White plaster and dark beams usually get furnished timidly.

Rowe Furniture
Rowe has been building upholstered furniture since 1946, and the line the company has used about itself for most of that time is ‘first in fashion’. It is a slightly old-fashioned boast, and it points at something real: their argument has always been that a sofa should look like something chosen rather than something ordered.
Almost nothing they make exists before somebody buys it. Each piece goes into production against a specific order, in the covering and the configuration a particular person picked, which is a harder way to run a factory than building to stock and shipping out of a warehouse. They are fairly direct about having chosen the harder way deliberately.
Under the cover it is domestically sourced hardwood lumber and high-density cushions. They have also put real effort into what leaves the building rather than only what ships from it: since 2023 their Eco Rowe program has kept more than six million pounds of material out of landfill.
They sell through independent retailers instead of around them — ‘Rowe Stands with Small’ is their own phrase for it. That is the reason a family showroom in West Ashley can put their work on the floor beside the Amish shops, and why the upholstery here is ordered the same way the case goods are: decided first, built second.
