Our story began in an Ohio furniture store run by an Amish preacher. Today his son Matt and Matt’s wife, Beth, welcome you to our Charleston showroom.

Our furniture is handmade to order in Amish family workshops in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana. We visit the shops and know the families who build each piece.

Our history
From Amish country to the Lowcountry
Ohio’s Amish community is known for its values of loyalty, responsibility, integrity and faith, and for honest, old-fashioned craftsmanship. Norman Troyer, an Amish preacher, built both into Troyer’s Furniture Store, which is still open today.
Norman’s son Matt grew up in the store and learned the trade there. He married Beth in 2002, and in 2005 they opened Foothills Amish Furniture in Landrum, South Carolina. There were lean years, but they never gave up.
In 2017 they opened Charleston Amish Furniture on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, bringing Matt’s trusted craftsmen in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana to Charleston. Their sons, Vincent, Dawson and Carson, work alongside them.

We choose our workshops with care
The Amish have earned their reputation for craftsmanship, but not every workshop meets the same standard. In furniture, the small details make the difference.
So we visit the workshops and inspect their furniture closely. We test the chairs, open the drawers, check the finish and talk with the craftsmen who build each piece.

We will service your furniture at no charge within ten years of delivery, regardless of its construction, finish, fabric or parts defect.
After that period, parts, labor and transportation may be charged depending on the repairDelivery with care
Delivered and set up in your home
When your furniture is ready, our own white-glove team, or a shipper who specializes in furniture, brings it into your home, places it in the room you choose and assembles it there.
Beds are built, hutch tops set and shelves placed, so your furniture is ready to enjoy. Our customers often write to thank our delivery crew.
