Sage Leather and a Wall of Glass
A wall of glass makes light the loudest thing in the room.
Everything on the floor reads as a silhouette first, so arrange by shape: a long cream sectional in the corner, one sage chair against it, two round oak tables to break the rectangles. Pale leather shows everything a hide does. Come and see it.
Natuzzi
Pasquale Natuzzi started the company in 1959 in a rented studio apartment in Taranto, in Apulia, at the arch of southern Italy. By his own account the equipment was a second-hand sewing machine, a hammer and four scissors. The first sofas came out of that room.
What grew out of it is the largest furniture maker in Italy, and the part that matters for a showroom floor is the vertical integration. Natuzzi runs its own tannery and its own Italian factories, so the hide is followed from the tannery through to the finished piece rather than bought in as a commodity. That traceability is the reason their leather behaves consistently from one order to the next.
The group sells under several names. Natuzzi Italia is the design-led line; Natuzzi Editions, which is what you will mostly see here, is the broader collection built around comfort and configuration — reclining sectionals, motion seating, and leather you can actually live on.
They are the outlier among our makers, and deliberately so. Everything else on this floor comes out of a family shop within a day’s drive of Holmes County. Natuzzi is here because there are things Italian leather does that nothing in Ohio does, and a room sometimes wants one of them.
